2028 Poll Shocker, Lindsay Clancy Backlash, and the AI Job Panic That Won't Die
A new 2028 poll just dropped.
TikTok built an army around Lindsay Clancy.
And the AI job panic? They moved the date. Again.

The TikTok Army Nobody Asked For
164,000 TikToks. Pink shirts outside the courthouse. A GoFundMe closing in on one million dollars from 31,000 donors.
That's the Lindsay Clancy backlash machine.
I draw a hard line here. Supporting postpartum mental health is one conversation. Justifying the unjustifiable is another.
I have zero empathy left to give for the second one.
You can care about women in crisis. You can fund research. You can demand better care. None of that requires turning a tragedy into a fandom. And TikTok, once again, picked the wrong hero.
If that makes me the villain of somebody's For You page, so be it.
The 2028 Numbers Just Dropped
Newsweek/McLaughlin put JD Vance on top at 32%.
Don Jr. sits second at 19% — without even running. Marco Rubio lands third at 12%. On the Democratic side, Kamala Harris leads the field at 29%.
Those are the headlines. Here's what actually matters.
Fourth-place AOC is the name the establishment should fear. Not because she's winning the primary tomorrow. Because the DSA is winning real races now — and that changes the bench for 2028 and 2032.
Vance has a balancing act. Don Jr. is a wildcard the donor class can't schedule. Newsom and the old guard still think the machine runs on autopilot. Meanwhile, the activist left is building something that doesn't need permission from cable news.
Polls this early are weather reports, not prophecies. But weather reports still tell you which way the wind is blowing.
Why AOC Is the One to Watch
The media wants you staring at Harris and Newsom.
I want you watching the DSA.
When a faction starts winning down-ballot races, it doesn't stay down-ballot forever. It recruits. It trains. It primary-challenges. By 2032, the "fringe" of 2026 can be the establishment of the next decade.
That's the warning. Not a prediction that AOC is inevitable. A prediction that ignoring the activist wing because the poll says she's fourth is how establishments get surprised.
The AI Job Panic Got Rescheduled
They said the jobs were gone.
Unemployment is still 4.2%. College-grad joblessness is 2.7%. CEOs expecting big AI headcount cuts dropped from 46% to 20%. Stanford's numbers show no gap at all between AI-exposed and least-exposed work.
So what did the doomers do?
They moved the date. Again.
I've watched this movie. Peak oil. Y2K. Every automation scare that was going to end work by next Tuesday. Technology changes work. It always has. Panic calendars are not the same thing as labor data.
Does AI disrupt industries? Yes. Is mass unemployment already here because ChatGPT exists? The numbers say no. And when the numbers refuse to cooperate, the narrative just picks a later year and keeps the same headline.
Don't let a rescheduled apocalypse run your career. Learn the tools. Ship the work. Stay useful.
JD Vance's Balancing Act (and the Don Jr. Wildcard)
Vance leading at 32% looks like inevitability until you remember how early this is — and how weird the field already is.
Don Jr. at 19% without running is the tell. Name ID and brand loyalty are doing work that consultants usually have to buy. Rubio at 12% is the establishment lane still breathing. None of that settles 2028. All of it tells you the Republican primary won't be a coronation if the Trump-adjacent lane stays crowded.
On the Democratic side, Harris at 29% is the old-guard default. Newsom still looms in the "when Harris fades" conversation. But the activist energy isn't waiting for permission from either of them. That's why I keep pointing at AOC and the DSA bench: the threat isn't today's poll position. It's tomorrow's farm system.
If you're a donor or an operative treating August 2026 numbers like destiny, you're already late. Treat them like a map of factions — then watch which factions can build precincts, not just clips.
The Bottom Line
Three stories that broke my brain this week:
- A social-media army that confused activism with absolution
- - A 2028 poll that should make both parties nervous for different reasons
- - An AI panic that keeps failing the employment report and keeps getting a new deadline anyway
Educated. Enlightened. Informed.
