Or maybe you're looking to put yourself on a path towards success, but you really don't know where how and a lot of it starts with mentally speaking, getting yourself lined up and put in a good spot to be I guess really programmed to do what you want to do effectively. So to talk to us, how can we reprogram our brains returned to The Brian Nichols Show, good buddy Michael Pickens. Welcome back The Brian Nichols Show how you doing, man?

Michael Pickens  3:13
Brian, I am doing fantastic. I think I'm going to have to pick up some cardio miracle. Even better.

Brian Nichols  3:19
There you go. That's right. I'll make sure I let my good buddy John Hewlett, CEO of cardio miracle know that you're on his way? No, Mike, I'm very excited to have you here on the show again, and I'm really looking forward to talk about all the cool things you've been doing right? You've been doing a lot of stuff talking about you how do we reprogram our brains, you know, you've been doing a lot of stuff in the supplement space, trying to help not just you know, bring alternatives to the market. But frankly, stuff that's actually good for us not just the chemical nonsense and crap that Big Pharma and stuff wants to put into our bodies. So, man, you've been busy, you've been doing a lot of great things in the world of trying to help create better advocates for liberty, but also just better, better. Advocates in general, I try to become a better human beings. So Michael, what's been going on? What do you been up to? lately? I remember you got a book coming out all this fun stuff. What else is going on there?

Michael Pickens  4:06
Yeah, all over the place. So you know, my main business is to educate people on holistic health, not relying on the pharmaceuticals out there not relying on the commercials and the big corporations that are basically brainwashing people to believe that they are the only solution that a Western medical doctor is the only person that can help them get healthy, that can help them solve their medical needs, and to break free from that mindset and to open up to the idea that there might be other alternatives out there that may be the root cause of their health problem can be fixed with their nutrition with their diet with their supplementation versus just a pill. Right? I hear it all the time, where the doctor says, Oh, no You just need this pill. And they don't look at the diet, the lifestyle, right the environment, the habits of the patient. And this is not a holistic way to look at it. This is a drug dealer way to look at it, they are out pushing medication, right? I mean, dude, we are

Brian Nichols  5:19
we are in the ozempic era, right? I mean, I'm saying I'm seeing this all over social media right now, I think a lot of it was coming from Planet Fitness, putting in a new CEO. And one of the main things they're facing, they're saying, at least in terms of challenges is all these people who are attending Planet Fitness, getting ozempic, and they're losing weight, but it's treating the symptom. It's not talking about the underlying cause of these issues. And you know, ozempic, yeah, maybe helps you lose weight, but it's not addressing the high blood pressure. It's not addressing the terrible bloodwork. It's not addressing all the other negative factors that went into you being an unhealthy individual. And I think right there, you're hitting the nail on the head, man, we are a society, much like this ozempic era that we're in and we want to treat those symptoms, give me the pill, give me the shot, whatever will make me feel numb and not feel icky anymore, or at least that's what I think.

Michael Pickens  6:10
Yeah, absolutely. So my upcoming book, it's called a liberated mind. And it probably won't be out until the beginning of next year. But think about this, those commercials that we've watched, since we were children have brought we brought up and grew up to believe that these pharmaceuticals are the only way to go. And there's people out there that actually believe that. And they think that anyone that tries to tackle health issues with a natural route, they think we're crazy. They've been programmed to believe that, right? So there's a lot of programs that we have running within our subconscious mind. And there is a way to break free. There's a lot of ways a lot of tools that can help us and I want to discuss a few of them on the show today. But let's talk about weight loss. Let's talk about getting healthy. Let's talk about some of the bad habits that come along with it. Right. So you're programmed to go after the ice cream, we had a customer that every day, she got home from work, and she ate an ice cream sandwich. But not only did she eat ice cream sandwich, she gave it to her dog that now has cancer that we're we're helping with. But having to change those habits and shift those habits and replace those habits with something that's going to actually benefit you.

Brian Nichols  7:33
Michael, it was just an ice cream sandwich.

Michael Pickens  7:36
Just an ice cream sandwich. Yeah. One a day that adds up, man, it adds up. And it's unfortunate. It's those seven

Brian Nichols  7:43
ice cream sandwiches a week 14. Technically, if you're counting the dog times for a week, that's 28 ice cream sandwiches a month. Oh, my God.

Michael Pickens  7:53
You think that this was common sense, right? But it's not really people need some intervention, they need help. And, you know, there's a lot of personal development stuff out there. And I highly recommend if you're listening to this, and you're not into personal development, and you want to make some positive changes, definitely get into personal development. There's so much stuff out there on subconscious reprogramming. Yeah, my book is coming out. But I've learned a lot of this stuff from other people out there as well. So there's, there's, you know, Jack Canfield, and there's Tony Robbins, and there's Bob Proctor who's passed now. And you know, a big personal development guy that I'm a fan of his Bob Berg, sales and marketing, that sort of thing. So there's a ton of personal development stuff out there. And I think the first step to this is setting a goal on what it is that you want. And then being open to going and finding the solution to that going and breaking down the goal into the action steps that need to happen to make it a reality. And then searching for it right doing Michael search basic stuff

Brian Nichols  9:01
to that right. And I don't mean to interrupt, I'm just one of the main challenges. If I was somebody, I heard that I would say, find my goal, Michael, I don't even know where to start. I don't know what my goal should be. So how, how I guess for those folks out there who to use the example that they're kind of like a you know, they're in a rowboat, and they're just floating in the middle of the ocean and just spinning in a circle. They want to go towards that end destination. They want to be able to break into concrete steps, but man, they don't even know where they are supposed to go. So to the person who is floating in that proverbial ocean right now. What What would you suggest to help start uncovering what it is you actually enjoy doing or what it is your goal is what your passion project should be? What does that look like?

Michael Pickens  9:47
So you start asking yourself what it is that you want, what it is, it's going to make you happy in your life, right? You have to ask those questions. And I could use myself as an example because I use a lot of the subconscious reprogramming we live in Spokane, the winters were too cold. The summers were too hot. We wanted to live by the ocean, we wanted fresh seafood. You know, we had to ask ourselves, what are you? What do we want? You know? So, three years later, we live at the beach, you know, I can walk three minutes, and I'm at the Pacific Ocean. We've got multiple properties here, we've got fresh seafood anytime we want it right. So you have to ask yourself, what what do you want? What kind of lifestyle do you want to have. And that can include health. And it can include finances, and it can include a whole bunch of different things. Right, I just got back from a three mile hike. I got up early this morning at 3am. I got a bunch of work done. And then was able to go take my dog and went with my wife. And we went on a hike up at the wildlife refuge. And it was great walked along the bay, there was awesome, right? I've created this life for myself, because I asked myself, What do I want, and then you write that down. And then now you have to figure out how you're gonna get there, you're gonna have to break that down and figure out what actions you need to take. There's a lot of people who talk about the law of attraction, I'm sure you're familiar with that, right? The secret, all that kind of stuff. I personally, don't think it really exists the way that a lot of people put it out there with manifestation and the law of attraction. And if you just, you know, believe that you're going to have something in your life that it'll manifest for you, who knows how long it's gonna take, I believe that the real law that's out there is the law of you moving towards what you want in life. So you set your goals, and you don't just say, you know, I want a million dollars, or I want this, I want that, I want this car, I want a Tesla cybertruck, which I don't want, but you put it out there, whatever, whatever it is you want in your life, and then you have to break down the action steps to get it and that is the key to this is breaking down the action steps that are the things that you have to do on a daily basis. And for someone that's like me, that's in sales, like it's pretty easy, because I just talked to a certain number of people, and, you know, put my my stuff out there. And if they buy it great if not a well and move on to the next person. So with that said, you have to break down what it is that you want, and move towards that. There's no way that I don't think you can magnetically attract things to you. Like you're going to see the results from the actions that you take on a daily basis, regardless of the thoughts that you think.

Brian Nichols  12:38
So is it really just a matter of getting yourself aligned to a direction you want to go? And then and then just really taking the steps? Right and not stop? Right? Because? And you answer the question. But the context behind that question, right is because I see this happen far too often, where folks will, they'll go, maybe one or two steps, and then they pause, or they take a step back, or they start to reconsider things. Whereas to your point, it's like you really need to just set where you're going and go. And maybe once you get there kind of do a little course correction if you want to go somewhere different afterwards, but at least get to your destination before you start trying to add in all these different stops along the way, if that makes sense. Sure.

Michael Pickens  13:30
And you know, you might start down the path towards whatever goal it is. And you might realize that's not the goal you want, and you might change things up. And that's okay. And that's what do you what do you do you just create a new goal you shift. Right So the beautiful thing about subconscious reprogramming is that once you know how to do it, you can create new new programming for your subconscious mind to go this way to go that way to go any way you want. Right, but I think what a lot of people don't do and that they should do. And something that I do is I have whiteboards up. You can get them at Home Depot or Lowe's and get an eight foot whiteboard for like 20 bucks you can get.

Brian Nichols  14:09
You're gonna go on an adventure. You can get a whiteboard right there. Yeah, it's paint. It's a paint whiteboard. You can paint your wall you can paint your wall folks, you can literally take any spot in the world and make it a whiteboard showing off our whiteboards aren't

Michael Pickens  14:24
we worked around here. I got two of them right over there. See ya. I'm

Brian Nichols  14:30
bored train. I love it.

Michael Pickens  14:31
I'm in our production facility right now.

Brian Nichols  14:36
There we go writing it down.

Michael Pickens  14:41
Yeah, so writing it down is super important. And then putting it in front of you like putting it on your dashboard of your car, putting it in your bathroom on your mirror. So you're seeing it every day. You have to have those reminders or you're going to forget it takes session or 21 days to build a habit. Go ahead

Brian Nichols  14:59
And I don't mean to interrupt, because I know you're probably gonna go down this rabbit hole a little bit. But, Michael, this kind of sounds like in the world of business, it sounds like marketing, right? You're basically marketing to yourself, the things you need to do. Right. And you're staying top of mind. It's staying in your purview. It's the same thing here.

Michael Pickens  15:17
Oh, yeah, definitely you see it every single day. You see, when you get up, you see, when you get in your car, it's just a reminder. And what happens is those those goals go into your subconscious mind. And that is the magic when it's in your subconscious mind. Because once you actually believe that, that is the direction that you want to go. And your subconscious mind starts to put together the pieces on the actions you need to take to get there. And it kind of helps you take the actions itself. And you can use like affirmations, you're probably familiar with affirmation, right? So there's three types of affirmations that I use all in conjunction with each other. And the first type of affirmation is the end result affirmation, you know, I want to house next to the beach or on the beach or by the beach. Right? That's the end goal. Okay, then how are you going? To get there? And that's the action affirmations. Right? So in my case, it was I had to make more sales, right. So my affirmations were, I love getting up in the morning, and making phone calls to prospects talking to them about how my products can benefit them in their business, right, because a lot of the stuff we do is wholesale. So you know, getting that action affirmation put in place like oh, man, it feels good making these calls, it feels good talking to people, because it's going to get me sales, which in turn, will help me reach, you know, my end goal of having a house by the beach versus

Brian Nichols  16:50
the, you know, the SDRs, I would coach would be like, I had to do calls again today, like, like getting yourself stoked up knowing that this is just like going to the gym, right? Like you, hey, the extra five reps, that's gonna help you in your progression towards hitting that, you know, 305 bench or whatever it might be like you need to put in the work. Because it's not just the work you're doing. It's in pursuit of that larger goal. Correct.

Michael Pickens  17:18
That's a great analogy at the gym, working out, every single rep adds up and counts to it, you might not make a sale when you make the phone call, right. But you're starting to build the relationship. And the phone call is not about making the sale. It's about building relationships, showing people that you care, showing them that you're there for them. And it doesn't matter because the sale may come five phone calls down the line or 10 phone calls down the line. But you got to understand long term vision, short term goals, each time you make that call, and you talk to this new person, they're getting to know you better, and people only buy from people they know like and trust, right. So that's what you got to do. You got to get them to know you, like you and trust you. Right. So that's part of it. However, a lot of people are afraid to make the phone call. So using these affirmations will help you get there. And then the third type. So the first type is the end result affirmation, right what it is that you want to accomplish. Right. The second part is the action affirmation. It'll help you take with the activities needed to get you to that end result. And then the third is called an Ask formation, right and ask formation. And that's when you ask yourself what it feels like to be in that house? What does it feel like to be in that house? How are you so good at making those phone calls, you're asking yourself about the other end results of that. So it kind of solidifies it in your subconscious mind. It brings in a third party perspective, even though you're saying it like you're asking yourself, How are you so good at making those phone calls, and then your subconscious mind spits back out. I just practice, I just keep doing it. I just keep making the phone calls. And then it really solidifies. So those three ways those three tools, those different affirmations is what I use, and then you can record them, you can record your voice, and then you can add a theta brainwave track to it, right, you can add some background music. Are you familiar with different brainwaves?

Brian Nichols  19:30
Kind of like is it in the same world of like frequencies and such? Correct? Yeah, like so noise is a certain frequency, like noises a certain frequency? Yeah,

Michael Pickens  19:39
so our brains operate on different frequencies. When we're our most active. It's called an alpha state. And then beta state and then Delta State. We're starting to go into sleep and then theta state

Brian Nichols  19:52
on the cron state. Sorry. Really bad COVID joke Sorry, continue. Oh, man.

Michael Pickens  19:58
What Yeah, Hey, so, so most, when I say all kids up to the age of seven are mostly in a theta state brainwaves, that's like, where your your subconscious is kind of operating your body, kids do things, and they don't know why they're doing them. Right. If your kid ever does something, and they just dropped something, or they don't know why they're not conscious of what they are doing, they're in this status state. And it makes it to where kids are easily programmed at an early age, where they will take on whatever it is their parents tell them to whatever they're, you know, siblings, right, that we get a lot of our habits at an early age. And you know, trauma is really bad, right? When kids go through trauma, because it sticks with them for a very long time. And you see, you know, people in their 50s and 60s, so, you know, in therapy, going through this trauma that they had when they were they were a child, because their mind is so open to suggestion, which is also why the government's like get every kid in school, we got to get in program. Right. You know that, you know, we homeschool. So we've actually programmed our kids with Jack Canfield. And Jocko willing and, you know, Warrior kid and maximum confidence and all these things. And both of our kids now have businesses and you know, they talk to adults, it's like, it's what we program ourselves with. That matters, right? To sum it up, what we listened to what we watch, like what we experience on a daily basis, like the podcasts that we listened to all of it, like we're taking in this information. And if we're listening, and we're watching the news, where, you know, they're telling us a vision and programming us with it, that's what we're going to be programmed with. That's the bottom line. Like, we can decide what goes into our subconscious mind. And then that's what will come back out into our life.

Brian Nichols  22:05
But my goal, this just sounds like a lot of work. So where do I start? Right? And that's the thing, right? Like, everybody listening to this has, they have the ability to make this part of their routine part of their day part of their life. And yet, it requires a lot of work. Now, obviously, you have a book coming out next year, I'm sure that we'll dig into a lot more of these in much more intricate detail. But for the audience who's listening today, they hear all this and they're like, I don't know, like, I know where to start or what you said, but I just there sounds like there's so much to this, how do I know I'm on the right path? How do I know I'm doing the right things? How do I have that that like, you know, that third party validation saying, you're on the right path? Keep it up, buddy, you know, I mean, because you're in your own life, you're in your own journey, you don't really have that third person to say, you're doing a good job, hey, change these things here. It really is us. We are both living our lives as well as being the person commentating on our own lives in our own head, right. Like that's more or less that narrator that conscience we have telling us talking to us about what we're doing right, what we're doing wrong, what we could be doing better. What were the well that day, what didn't go so great that day, though. That's the voices we hear. But it's us, I know that it's like my brain isn't necessarily going to always tell me the truth. So how do I know my goal? How do I know if I'm doing the right things?

Michael Pickens  23:33
Sure. There's a couple of ways one, find yourself a coach, find yourself a success coach, or a business coach or a life coach or a health coach or working out coach or, you know, the way that I look at it is a professional athlete, right? Professional baseball player, right. And a professional baseball player. They have a hitting coach, a pitching pitching coach, they have a nutritionist, they have a physical therapist, they have a running coach, they have a first base coach and a third base, right? They have all these different coaches that help them plan out what it is that they're doing. Now. You don't need all of those coaches, I would just say find an accountability coach, someone else I used to do this, I don't really do it anymore. And it is super helpful, though. Because that accountability, they're going to go through and just ask you, if you're following up with your plan that you created, they're going to most coaches are just sounding boards, right? They're going to ask you what it is you want, and they're going to help you stay organized. Right? They'll send you a recap of your coaching session on what you said you wanted to accomplish and the action steps that you need to take. I'm not going to recommend any specific coach out there. I'm sure you could find one locally or online. There's so many online coaches, just mastermind groups. Yeah, all that mastermind groups are good. Rate, right, just find one that's reasonably priced. Because if some of them will try to gouge you with huge, you know, it's by this $30,000 coaching package. And I'm not saying that it isn't good information, and they can't help you with what it is that you're looking for. But I just think that there's a lot of the same information is regurgitated out there, which is why I'm writing this book. And what's really taking me so long is that I want to write it in a way that people can follow the steps at the same time and implement them in their life while they're going through it. Right, as they understand these concepts of the subconscious mind and how it works. And there's one thing I do want to touch on, and it's called the bucket analogy. And it's in the very first chapter of the book. And I look at my subconscious mind like a bucket. Let's say you got a Home Depot, five gallon bucket,

Brian Nichols  25:59
right, blue one, or no, orange one, sorry, Lowe's. Yeah,

Michael Pickens  26:03
Home Depot, Lowe's, whatever, right? It's a bucket. It's a big five gallon bucket. And we all start out in life with this big five gallon bucket. And there's, there's two hoses and one hose spits out nasty sludge, mucky water, just gross, right, and the other host spits out clean, clear pristine water, okay, and the hose with the nasty water that represents negative programming from our past trauma, things that we've gone through that hold us back fear, you know, bad TV, or music, and all this other crap that does not serve us or help us or is positive in any way, shape or form. Right in the bad habits, all that nasty stuff, most of us, because our parents, you know, God bless them. They knew what they knew at the time. And, you know, they they probably didn't prepare us correctly. I know mine didn't, right. So most of our life, this nasty sludgy water was going into our bucket. And our bucket represents our subconscious mind. Okay, now, the the water going out of the bucket, because that hose is flowing in the water going out represents our reality represents our conscious mind represents, you know, our life around us. So what happens is example, if you're putting ice cream sandwiches into the bucket every single day, eventually out pops diabetes, right? Eventually, out pops the obesity of well over time out pops obesity, right? Overflowing out into our life. Right? And your fans, and your fans, yes, and everything else. So let's say you start on this personal development track, you start writing your goals down, you start, you know, you write it down on your dashboard, and you got it up on your mirror and you got your you're doing the things right, and a week goes by and two weeks go by, and then you have this catastrophe. And you're like, Oh, I just need an ice cream sandwich. So those two weeks, you're putting the good stuff in there. And then all of a sudden, you're back to the bad stuff. Right? And you put some more good stuff. What happens is that the bad stuff that mucky water has built up for years. So there is that nasty, mucky mud water thick is probably sludge at the bottom of the bucket by now. And that's the the trauma and the old programming and the old habits. So how long do you have to put that clean, clear pristine water in for all that other stuff to eventually flow out? Right years. This is this process takes years. Now there's ways you can speed it up with the theta binaural beats and the frequencies and the affirmations and listening to them every single day. And, you know, maybe maybe doing some psilocybin with the affirmations, something that can help reprogram your mind quickly, that can help but it's still going to take time. And it's still going to take years and through this process. You have to be grateful. And you have to be gracious with yourself. And you have to be forgiving of yourself when you mess up when you make a mistake when you miss a day. Right? But you have to understand that every day starts new and you can start over and you can take it down even further. And you can do every hour every hour is a new hour. If you had a bad hour if you sometimes there's external forces that dictate the way that you feel at times. Like if you get an argument with your significant other if you get, you know a bunch of traffic, right, whatever it is, it gets you upset. You can learn to reset every hour and say, Okay, it's a new hour. I'm going to start new I'm going to get back on track, right or if you indulge and eat half a gallon of ice cream. Right? Because something traumatic happened. And you're just like you just let it go the next day, you can forgive yourself, get back on track and move forward successfully. So,

Brian Nichols  30:13
Michael, let's say, and I know we're hard pressed for time here. So I'll I'll finish my questioning part here with this. Let's say, it's not us, it's a loved one. And, you know, maybe maybe we got our stuff together, but our loved one doesn't. And they they need some help. How do we bring this method bring this approach to someone who really needs the help? Without it being a saying, hey, you need help, I need you to do things better. Here's what you should do. Like how can we help bring this solution? And here's the context behind my question. Like, we talked about bringing solutions to people hear on the show. This is a solution. But like, I know, just in sales coaching and stuff as soon as you start to go towards someone say, Hey, here's an area we can focus on. If it's not them saying I want to get better at this and it's me saying we need to get better at this. I almost always will get some kick or some pushback, right or they're not maybe on board as much like here I'll tell a real story. I had an SDR back in yesteryear name was Julie. Julie was awesome. Julie, still a good friend, Julie loved watching. What the hell was that show, Snooki and all them. The Jersey Shore Jersey Shore. I was like, I know it's one of those trash ones on the East Coast. She loved Jersey Shore. She loved like just nonsensical things. She never really paid attention to getting better, not just at her job, but also as a person. And there came a really sad day when I had to let Julie go. And she understood like she knew it. But if I had gone to her, you know, day one before we went down this rabbit hole. And I said, Julie, things aren't going so good here. Like we need to really focus on this. I want you to start retraining reprogramming your brain, she wouldn't have done this, she wouldn't have jumped on board. But she needed to she needs to. So Michael, how do you get people who maybe aren't on board that desperately need this help or need to reprogram their minds? What's the best way to get them on board? Is it buying them your book? Is it you know, bring them to a you know, a mastermind session? Like what have you seen be successful in that regards. So

Michael Pickens  32:28
first asking them questions to see if it's something that they even want. And the second thing is if you're around them personally, you can listen to podcasts, or what I did with with our kids is I would listen to maximum confidence from Jack Canfield. It's an audio course. Right? I've listened to it. And he talks about different concepts in there. And the kids started picking it up. And they wanted to listen to it on their own. And now they listen to it on their own. And you know, they've listened they found new stuff. Right? So, you know, leading by example is probably the best way. And like I said, for me listening to it out loud, so they have to hear it. And are you talking was Julian employee of yours? Or she was okay. She was employee? Well, you know, making some of this stuff like mandatory listens like, Oh, if you're going to work for me, here you go listen to this, you know, for 30 minutes before you get started, right in sales with salespeople, like here, listen to 30 minutes of this book on making phone calls, listen to this training on on XYZ, you know, and

Brian Nichols  33:37
I'm laughing because Michael, it feels like you're a part of our SDR huddles because we did just that actually, we would listen to podcast episodes of sales trainings or listen to recordings of some not so great SDR calls and how to get better at them. So yeah, we actually we went through, it made a lot of that stuff. So it's, it's good to know, I was on the right path. I didn't even realize it. Yeah,

Michael Pickens  33:57
so getting people just to understand, and maybe it's not threatening. When I say I'm listening to this because I need it. Like I've listened to maximum confidence 100 times and I'll keep listening to it. I'll listen to it 100 more times, I'm always open to growing into improving. You know, no one's going to offend me by telling me that I need to get better at something else, because I probably do. If they tell me that I need to get better at something well, then I better you know, take a look. There's a reason why now, they could be completely off but maybe not. Right? And that's okay. It's letting the ego go. However, there's people like Julie where if you would have confronted her straight up and say you need to do this, you probably would have been like new. But if you're like here, I need to do this and I need help on this issue. Can you help me be accountable for this thing? She probably say yeah, I'll help you be accountable. Okay, great. Well, we're gonna go through this book, or we're going to listen to this podcast and it's going to help me with this issue with making phone calls or whatever, whatever it is that she was struggling with. Because you say I need help as well, I need help on this. Can you help me? You know, hold me accountable. And she's like, oh, yeah, I'll hold you accountable.

Brian Nichols  35:13
So, to quote Michael Scott, yeah, to quote Michael Scott, monkey see monkey do monkey pee all over you. That is exactly what your approach though, right? Like you need to lead by example, I can't be out there. And by the way, I used to get like so many questions by leadership at different companies. They're like, Brian, you are leading the SDR team, you're leading sales Dev, why are you doing phone calls? And I'm like, they need to have somebody to look to to say that's how you do it. That's how you do a phone call. Well, and who am I to say, get out there do 50 100 150 dials a day, if I'm not willing to sit there and do the same thing? Like, you need to not just lead by example. But also I think it kind of is we're going towards the end the episode here, Michael, like, you also gotta know. I say this very tentatively. You got to help the people who want to be helped, right? Sure. You can't go out of the way and get somebody on board with this new way of reprogramming of their to your point earlier. If they're just like, Nah, I don't care. I'm not into that. All right. You can't save everyone. Right. That's why the Aeroplan they always say please fasten your your little oxygen mask before your your neighbors like the same thing is true here. You can't is Jordan Peterson Yeah, that you make your own bed dammit. Like the same thing is true here. You got to make your own bed first, lead by example and show the benefits talk about why you do this thing. Like I used to have people all the time look at me and be like, Brian, why don't you drink anymore? Back in 2021 I stopped drinking. And I actually got a lot of co workers who my my old company very, very alcohol, heavy culture. And like company get togethers. We get a little uncomfortable sometimes at the end because I wasn't drinking was drunk. Yeah. Yeah. And then like, I had actually one or two people, though, for my company who they saw me not drinking. And they're like, I don't like drinking either. And I was like, say it out loud. It's okay. Don't Don't stress like, I don't drink you don't drink, hey, you know, we'll go play a game together. And fast forward to here we are 2024. As we're recording, I left my company back couple years ago, my old company. And I know for a fact now that they have instituted more recently, much more like non alcohol centric events. Yep, Win win, because it didn't happen overnight. But it planted the seed showing. Maybe there's a different way to do things. And more and more people start to say, Yeah, we should do things a little bit differently, or heck, I want to do things a little bit differently. So I guess I summarize all that into my final thoughts, Michael, um, this has been one of those conversations that I could just literally talk to you for hours. But I know we are hard pressed for time. So what would you want? If we could wrap this episode up in a nice bow? What would you want the audience to really take away as we're going through the end of the episode, but also looking ahead to next year when your book is going to be available? And we want people to obviously go ahead and support that, but also get their hands on it. So you know, between that. And now Michael, what would you want the audience to leave with? Yeah,

Michael Pickens  38:13
so I want everyone to understand that whatever goals that you set in your life, whatever you want to accomplish, you can absolutely make it happen. It's just gonna take time, right? It's gonna take time, but you can speed it up by using subconscious reprogramming. There's a lot of stuff out there on the internet already. So even though my books not out, you can Google it. You can search it subconscious reprogramming along with affirmations and ask formations, look that up implemented in your life right now on whatever it is that you want to accomplish. And I'm telling you, it's going to start creating those good positive habits that will get you there. So a year from now this year is going to pass anyways. But a year from now you can look back and you can say you know what my life is in a better place. You might not have reached those big goals, but I guarantee you'll be closer to accomplishing them. So just get started right now take the steps and start making it happen.

Brian Nichols  39:13
Everyone who listens to the show knows I have a my sales coaching approach. It's called the elephant in the room approach. And one of the things I always teach is how to eat that elephant one bite at a time. Same thing with your goals. 100% Man, we didn't get to Episode 800 And what 38 where we are today. Overnight, it took six and a half, seven years to get to where we are today. And I think you hit the nail on the head. There are so many people who they want that proverbial magic wand. They want that ozempic shot they want the magic pill that will make everything all better overnight and that's just not how it works. And I promise you folks, I promise you that if somebody is selling you a solution, that is an overnight, take a pill, flip the switch, take a shot everything will get better in your life? That person isn't a good salesperson? Because I would almost say they're not well, and Michael, am I off base saying that they probably aren't a good person if they're selling it to you in that way?

Michael Pickens  40:13
Yeah, exactly. Things take time. And you know, you might win a lottery ticket, but the chances of that actually happening are slim to none. And no one is going to create success for you in your life. Right? I don't, I don't remember who said it. But you're the one that has to do the push ups. No one else can do the push ups for you. No one else can take the actions for you. And no one else is going to do that no one else is going to make it happen for you. You have to do it for yourself. Bob Marley redemption song, what was it? Only man, emancipate yourself from mental slavery. None but ourselves can free our mind. We're the ones that are going to have to do it.

Brian Nichols  40:58
Michael Pickens, this conversation I telling you, we could just go on and on and on and on, you know, just just the audience, they're enjoying this, I want them to be able to continue these conversations. So we're going to have you on again, in the very near future, these are just great, great chats that we have. And also, I think we're at a point right now, as a society, we're kind of at that, that proverbial crossroads, right? Where you have a large group of folks who are taking this easy path, the ozempic path, the magic pill path. And then there's another group of folks who maybe they were on board with that originally, but now they're waking up, or folks much like in your your camp in my camp, Michael, who we've seen through the nonsense for a while. And we know that there's a different direction, we have to go Frank, and I get some excitement, knowing that we're at a point right now where that not only is possible, but there are people like us who are leading the charge. So we'll make sure we include all those links in the show notes for anybody who wants to go ahead and support the work you're doing but also support, you know, this this, frankly, revolutionary way of approaching our mental health, the way that we approach problems and bring solutions to the table. And yes, stop focusing on addressing symptoms, let's start focusing on the root cause of these problems, and really do things in a better way a more holistic approach as Michael started here from the beginning.
